Pennsylvania To Consider Making NEVs Street Legal
Pennsylvania, one of the few states still holding out against legalizing the use of Neighborhood Electric Vehicles (NEVs) on public roadways, may soon change its opposition to the idea. Danny King, in a posting on Autoblog.com dated February 6, 2012, reported that the State Senate has passed bill that would allow the vehicles on roadways with a posted speed limit no higher than 25 mph as well as on some roads with posted speed limits as high as 35 mph. Federal regulations allow such vehicles on all roads with speed limits up to 35 mph, but leave further regulations and restrictions up to individual municipalities and jurisdictions. Currently 46 states allow their use. Sponsored by Senator Stewart Greenleaf, the bill must still go through the State House Of...
Army Residence Community Has Good Things to Say!
“Anytime you make an investment, there are obvious uncertainties. Purchasing an electric vehicle that you know little about inherently has even more uncertainties. The Army Residence Community purchased two such vehicles. One 15 passenger shuttle bus and one 4 passenger vehicle that Moto Electric converted into a Security Vehicle for us. I scheduled a trip to Florida to visit Moto Electric Vehicles and its Owner. Because I was putting my reputation on the line to authorize the purchase of these two vehicles, I wanted to get a final feel about the company and its Owner. It was a worthwhile trip and after leaving, we truly felt as a company that Moto Electric Vehicles was a great company. This is a company with great integrity. Any issues with these vehicles were repaired...
Calculate Your Carbon Footprint
As Pam Hollis said, “I try to live by the philosophy that we can’t expect to make 100 percent change in any one thing. Rather, it’s the 1 percent change in 100 different things that will make the biggest impact.” Moto Electric Vehicles is proud to join the 1 percent that is attempting to save our environment, while reducing our dependence on gasoline, directly lowering the cost of transportation. Want to calculate your carbon footprint? Want to see how much it would change if you drove an electric vehicle? Now you can! Visit the Earth Day Network's Footprint Calculator at www.earthday.org and see how your daily activities affect our planet. The result will most likely provide food for thought -- and you just may learn something!
Earth Day - Then And Now
April 22, 2012 will mark the 42nd anniversary of the Earth Day movement. Two years later, with the help of Republican Congressman Peter McCloskey and a staff of 85, the first Earth Day was celebrated by 20 million Americans Former Wisconsin Senator Garylord Nelson in coast-to-coast rallies supporting environmental causes from cleaning up polluting factories and toxic dumps to preserving wildlife and natural habitats. At the time, Earth Day was a purely American celebration, and led to the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency, as well as...

Moto Maintenance Tips - Wiring Inspection
Today our topic is wiring inspection. Over time, wiring connections can become loose or corroded. You should check your wiring as follows: 1. Perform a visual inspection of all battery and motor cables. If there is any green or white build-up, this is corrosion. You can clean it with soapy water or a battery terminal cleaner found at any vehicle-parts store. Simply wash the terminals with cleaner and, if necessary, use a stiff (non-metallic) brush. Severe or rusty build-up can indicate loose battery connections. Tighten any loose connection or battery damage will occur. 2. After checking and cleaning primary connections, disconnect main battery connection to prevent short circuits. Check the various plugs at controller, dash, stereo and any other location you...

Langley, WA To Allow Golf Carts On Public Roads
Brian Kelly, Editor of the South Whidbey Record, reported on January 29, 2012 that the Langley City Council has given its unanimous approval for the creation of a “golf cart zone”, which would allow electric golf carts on some city streets. The measure would not apply to gasoline-powered golf carts, and golf cart owners would be required to make some modifications to their vehicles in order to drive them on Langley’s roads. Langley Mayor Larry Kwarsick noted that Washington State Law allows golf carts on city streets with a speed limit of 25 mph or less, but his city will require additional safety equipment. The law would require golf carts to have lights, turn signals, a safety flag on a 5-foot pole, and a city license costing $30 annually. The...
Florida Considers Outlawing Texting & Driving
Jim Turner's Blog at www.sunshinestatenews.com reported on February 21, 2012 that Florida's Senate Budget Committee had given its support to a bill aimed at outlawing texting while driving any motor vehicle (including NEVs and LSVs) on Florida's roads, clearing the way for consideration of the measure by the entire State Senate. SB 416 would have made texting while driving a secondary offense in the state, meaning that drivers would not be stopped for the offense itself, but would have received a ticket for it if law enforcement saw a driver texting or reading texts while committing any other driving infraction. Senator Nancy Detert (R-Venice) introduced the bill, aimed at making Florida's roads safer by cutting down on distracted driving. Under the measure, a driver would still be...
